LCP Sponsors Team in Three Peaks Challenge 2006
LCP Sponsored a team from GFI Group for the BISS/Cargill Three Peaks Challenge on 16 - 18 June 2006
The Three Peaks Challenge is to climb three of the UK’s tallest mountains (Ben Nevis in Scotland, 1,344 metres, Helvellyn in the English Lake District, 950 metres and Snowdon in Wales 1,085 metres) in 24 hours including mad dashes by coach between these locations. Each of the teams of three was generously sponsored with all proceeds going to BISS.
BISS (British & International Sailors’ Society) is an international Charity caring for the world’s seafarers and their families. The first such event took place in 2004 and attracted 75 competitors. This time around there were over a hundred with some people travelling from the States and the Far East to participate.
LCP's sponsored team from GFI Group achieved a combined climbing time of about 13 hours which ranked them at around half way amongst the 34 teams competing.
The total money raised for BISS was a record this year, at over half a million pounds and this will go a very long way to helping the seafarers, port workers and their families living in hardship and impoverished conditions around the world who BISS helps with their charitable work. http://www.biss.org.uk
We hope you enjoy the photographs of a triumphant team member at the top of Ben Nevis and the view.
