The omni-channel revolution
2013 LCP RESEARCH REPORT - The omni-channel revolution.
LCP’s widely acclaimed 2013 report which provided in-depth insight into the thinking of Retail Boards in the UK and USA in relation to the development of their omni-channel approach and the business models needed to support them. This year’s study - covering an even more comprehensive spectrum of retailers from the UK and USA - looks at current activity, over-arching strategy, in-depth tactics, the critical elements driving success and future plans, revealing critical areas that are top of mind for retailers today.
Report findings included:
The majority of Board Directors from UK and US-based major retailers state a move to omni-channel is inevitable.
Omni-channel will require significant changes to retail operating models and this is predicted to happen within the next two years.
The non-food retail sector is set to invest almost £5bn over the next five years in a move to Omni.
Many retailers are investing in omni-channel simply to compete without a clear ROI.
Major benefits of omni cited as: opportunity to deliver enhanced business operating models; increased sales; improved net margins; improved stock management and visibility coupled with greater understanding of customer experience across all channels.
The report also includes interviews with an LCP expert panel:
- Neil Ashworth (CEO, Collect+)
- Graham Barnes (Supply Director, Argos)
- Dino Rocos (Operations Director, John Lewis Partnership)
- David Wild (former CEO Halfords and Group Supply Chain Director Tesco)
