Re-evaluating supply methods, loading and route management to deliver substantial freight cost savings and reduced 'food miles'

Over a period of many years this leading food manufacturer reduced its transport costs and was struggling to find further savings.  LCP reviewed their operational methods to identify a 'step change' and transformation in their ways of working.

A holistic view was taken of operations which led to finding ways of combining loads for the same and different customers, with a particular focus on managing the vehicle load build to account for weight / damage / risk. The resulting vehicle utilisation and reduced 'food miles' generated an operational saving in excess of 17%.

An additional benefit  resulted:  the improvement of demand management through pallet standardisation and customer collaboration, without further cost to operations.

The resulting vehicle utilisation and reduced 'food miles' generated an operational saving in excess of 17%
