Developing the strategic operating platform for the European logistics network and supply chain operations of a global engineering company
The challenge? Following a challenging period due to the global downturn and despite good performance operational changes were needed in order to support profit growth targets.
Oportunities to reduce structural cost, improve customer service and maintain core local market accountability across its 14 operating companies in Europe were needed. LCP was engaged to manage a discovery programme to identify the major opportunities and required effort to deliver them.
Using our RapiSCAN® methodology, LCP identified many opportunities to improve availability to drive gross margin improvement of 3 to 5%. Direct operating savings of £1.5m were also identified as 'quick-wins'. The longer term roadmap provided a real impetus and enabled the senior team to plot a course towards an integrated European logistics operation.
