Designing and implementing a global planning solution (S&OP), to drive operational efficiency and profitability for a speciality pharmaceutical company
A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer - Ferring - was experiencing massive global growth but suffering from high inventories and poor service to both its regional businesses and its ultimate customers.
Following a 'health check' of its operations and management LCP identified that rather than seeking to improve systems and processes, more fundamentally the business required to improve its operational planning and communications with Sales, Marketing and Product Management.
The project focused on the implementation of S&OP processes to align demand and supply and create far greater visibility across all operations including vendor supply. A global process implementation was completed within 9 months, with some systems development continuing for another year.
This impact on customer service and inventory reduction was tangible and immediate, with production stability and cost saving emerging over the longer term
